The proposed amendments to the Chandigarh Master Plan- 31, are unsubstantiated by any prerequisite studies of infrastructure,traffic, holding capacity,environment etc.They do not follow the recommendations of the Heritage Committee or the earlier Supreme court ruling to uphold the Master plan 31 and retain the character of the city of Chandigarh  while planning for future growth.The Master Plan -31 is a comprehensive document  outlining  the way forward  for the future  of Chandigarh  in alignment with its ethos of Sun, Space and Verdure ,  Man  in Nature and the low rise built form scaled to Man with its architectural style and  Urban design  considerations. It was designed as a finite city, already reaching its population density and under pressure in its landlocked capacity . This unnecessary population influx  should be taken care of in the neighbouring areas itself and a regional level  plan is called for .  Whereas the 2026 amendments  recommended for proposed high rise structures, increased density, and increased FAR will impact the city drastically in innumerable ways that cannot be considered beneficial .   Do we want another Zirakpur ? If you want the city of Chandigarh  to retain its green,low / medium rise architecture, self sustaining sectors, ,livability factor and it's beautiful quality of life that gives its unique identity and global recognition  Do sign this petition to stop random ,unjustified development  as put forth in the amendments 2026 .
