Unionize Front Line Supervisors at UPS for Fair Compensation and Benefits

Unionize Front Line Supervisors at UPS for Fair Compensation and Benefits
The Issue
I am a Front Line Supervisor at UPS in Louisville, KY, and the recent changes to our workforce have made it nearly impossible to complete our tasks effectively. Our hours have been cut drastically, forcing us to manage multiple areas with less compensation. To add insult to injury, we are required to pay for our own benefits which further reduces our income.
We believe that it's time for change. We call on UPS management to unionize Front Line Supervisors so we can receive fair compensation for those who have served longer in the company. We also demand that our guaranteed hours be increased so we can efficiently complete sort tasks without compromising quality or safety. We also demand that we get overtime after our five hours instead of after eight, we are part-time and should be receiving the same pay rates as the union to ensure that our employees won’t be getting paid at a higher rate than us.
Moreover, health benefits should be provided like they are within the union - without us having to pay into them out of pocket. It is unjust that while working under strenuous conditions, we still bear the burden of healthcare costs.
Lastly, discretionary time off should be just that - discretionary TO US not dictated by management. Sick leave should also be respected as long as a doctor’s note is provided.
According to Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), unionized workers received employer-provided health benefits 94% of the time compared with only 68% for nonunion workers in 2019 (BLS). This disparity clearly illustrates how crucial unionization is in ensuring employee welfare.
This petition isn't just about improving conditions at one facility; it's about setting a precedent for all front line supervisors across all industries who may face similar struggles. Stand with us today by signing this petition and help bring fairness back into our workplace!
