BMRCL does not want Train2Airport !!! Why ? Because BMRCL says it is working on Metro2Airport and its business will get affected if there is Train2Airport !!!

Let us understand what BMRCL has done regarding Metro2Airport until now. As part of Phase2 - which was approved in 2014 and was supposed to be completed by 2020 - the most important line is Reach6, which would run from Gottigere to Nagawara (underground from Dairy Circle to Nagawara). In 2018, it was approved that this line would continue to the Airport.

In mid-2017, BMRCL decided to shift the proposed location of CANTONMENT METRO STATION from its approved location to a Playground 1.5Kms away by road. This shift would result in a Metro-to-Railway-Train distance of 800m. In 2018, BMRCL decided to change the alignment again - this time to take the Airport Link via Hebbal Flyover instead of R.K.Hegde Nagar.

With these 2 major changes, have they started the work on ground ? Until now, physical work done between Dairy Circle and Airport (via Nagawara) is a BIG ZERO. Not a speck of dust has been moved.

And how long will they take ? They were supposed to complete Phase 2 by 2020. Now, they are saying, they will complete it by 2023. It has been my contention that the manner in which BMRCL has been working, they will NOT be able to complete Phase 2 before 2025.

Can Bengaluru afford to wait for 2025 to have good Public Transport connectivity to Airport ? The answer is obvious : NO. Train2Airport can be started in a matter of months, if the political will is available. This will result in significant relief as far as the growing Traffic Congestion and Pollution is concerned.

The Government needs to ACT with Right Decision......and Fast  !!!
