In the long and arduous journey for a Suburban Train System in Bengaluru, 22 FEB 2019 will remain an Important Date. Union Railway Minister Shri Piyush Goyal, who was in Bengaluru, called up Karnataka Chief Minister Shri Kumaraswamy and very soon they met at the latter's Home Office, discussed and came to an agreement on the implementation of a new Suburban Train System in Bengaluru.

This System is proposed to have mainly 4 Alignments - (1) Kengeri to Whitefiled - via KSR Bluru City Rly Stn ; (2) Bluru City to Rajanakunte - via Yelahanka Rly Stn ; (3) Nelamangala to Byappanahalli - via Yeshwantpura & Hebbal Rly Stn ; (4) Heelalige to Devanahalli - via Byappanahalli & Yelahanka Rly Stn.

The last line will have an arm going to the Airport from the Trumpet Interchange. Hence, the Airport should get connected to Whitefield in the East, Heelalige (near Hosur Road) in the South East, Kengeri in the South West, Nelamangala in the  West, Rajanakunte in the North West, in addition to City, Byappanahalli, Yeshwantpura, etc.

There is a lot of work - both indoors and outdoors - before Bluru can start enjoying the benefits of this Suburban Train System. It may take 6+ years to fully materialise.

It is hoped that the Government works on the Airport Link on highest priority so that the quickest, easiest, and most effective answer to Bluru's high traffic congestion and pollution can be experienced without any further delay.
