Last weekend, a member of our Point Dume community died tragically while trying to extinguish a fire from a downed power line.  

Previous to that, we've endured multiple transformer fires and regular outages.  Our Cuthbert circuit has been labeled a Top 1% Worst Performing Circuit in every recent SCE report.

In 2023, we experienced 6 major outages (the last year official data was available), and these have escalated with recent PSPS outages – contributing to over 20 days of school closures this year. 

We understand that SCE is planning upgrades “over several years,” but we demand action before the next fire or needless death.  We’re asking you to fix this major safety issue and make our electricity dependable by:

1) Prioritizing the planned undergrounding upgrades for Cuthbert Circuit, with a clear and expedited timeline.

2) Providing transparent updates on the progress of these critical improvements.

Our community's safety and the reliability of our power supply cannot wait any longer.
