Protect the vulnerable and our NHS keep isolation policies and masks in place
The Issue
Covid-19 cases are rising again at an alarming rate with people who are double vaccinated becoming ill and those that have already had covid-19 catching it a second time. The symptoms people are experiencing are not the same as the basic covid-19 symptoms that are largely communicated with many experiencing cold like symptoms or no symptoms at all. Whilst not as many are becoming seriously ill many still are and we should be doing what we can to ensure this doesn't happen. If we reduce isolation measures and masks we are allowing more people in the community to become infected. This will not only put people's lives at risk, especially those who are vulnerable, but will also put extreme pressure on the NHS we have been trying so hard to protect. Hospital cases are rising, staff are already exhausted and waiting lists for treatment extensive. We cannot sustain another wave. We must protect our NHS and those who need it. We can open the country up more and help boost the economy but removing basic protection measures is a gamble too far. The British Government needs to show effective leadership and keep enforced measures in place rather than place the responsibility on individuals. We have come so far, we need to continue to work together and not undo everything we have achieved so far.
