Every year animals (Pets and Wildlife) and people are affected by Fireworks Nationwide.

Most people don't see the huge suffering some animals and people go through.

It's becoming more clear every day how the general public are irresponsible with Fireworks. ITS OUT OF CONTROL. 

Fireworks on Bonfire night, Xmas eve, New Years Eve, Diwali etc are understandable, as most people like them to a degree, but to have them going off from mid October, right through to January at every opportunity, every weekend, during the week and then some, until after New Year, is absolute torture for some pets, people and their families. 

Our Story ;

"I have a 9 year old dog Kia, who, at the first sound of a firework, starts shaking violently, panting wildly, hyperventilating and spends every moment scrabbling to hide behind someone or something. Her immense fear also means she refuses to go outside to go to the toilet in the garden, so she toilets in the house, until the morning when its light. She hyperventilates herself into dehydration but won't drink, because that would mean she would need to go out. This is dangerous for her. We've tried medication and sedatives for her, a Thundervest, a Calming bed, hooded beds, covered crates, loud TV, Music, swaddling, head wraps, body wraps, Rescue Remedy, Pet Plug-ins, Vapours, you name it. After the first firework, this happens every single day, from the first Firework in mid October, right through until January, because even on the odd night when there isn't any, she expects them. My dog, Kia, is now a Veteran and every year I hope and pray that her heart can take it. That's why this Petition is called My Kia's Heart".

This is TORTURE. 

PETS suffer like this every year and reports are made every year that sadly some pets have had strokes and heart failure and lost their lives as a result. And not just dogs. Rabbits and outdoor pets have died of fright.

HORSES try to jump a fences. 1 impaled himself on a fence, broke his leg and had to be PUT TO SLEEP. Another ran head on into a car and was killed outright. 

GUIDE DOGS are affected now, to the point they cannot guide their owners safely. 

ASSISTANCE DOGS are affected and cannot take care of their owners safely. 

WILDLIFE  is affected at these times.  Wild animals abandon their young. Some run into traffic. Wild Birds are terrified. 

FARM Sheep abort their young. Cattle stampede across fields, as do horses to escape the loud bangs often running into traffic or being killed. 

WAR VETERANS who suffer with PTSD are now having a huge problem with so many fireworks, often for weeks at a time, going off for hours. 

PTSD sufferers are now severely being affected. Listening to constant loud bangs all around your neighbourhood for hours on end is like being in a war zone. 

THE ELDERLY are affected as the loud bangs terrify them.

AUTISTIC people suffer with sensory overload and are terrified of the noise. 

Those that suffer Anxiety, sensory issues, ADHD, those with mental health issues and so on, are known to be affected by the noise of fireworks and it's torture for them too. IT HAS TO STOP ! 

There are NHS Nurses and staff and essential service workers that have to work shifts also and having fireworks going off at all times (dusk comes early in Autumn) disturbs their way of life and their job. THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE !

There are people who are perfectly responsible with Fireworks and have the common sense and sensitivity to limit them to the appropriate national celebrations, and to these people I'm truly grateful. BUT they are the exception. 

Sadly this isn't the norm anymore, which is why I'm calling for Fireworks to be allowed ONLY on the days of those specific National celebrations And ONLY allowed at a public organised event. 

This could be easily Policed as  neighbourhoods and communities would back this willingly and contribute to reporting as this is now such a widespread nuisance that causes so much suffering. There is no need for fireworks to be going off at dusk, at every opportunity, every single day through October, November and December and beyond the New Year.   

Australia and other Countries have already realised the size of the issue and have banned their use. 

What is required from our Government;

1. Please limit the use of Fireworks to ONLY specific National Celebrations/Holidays or fixed permitted associated weekends.

2. Prohibit the sale and use of Fireworks to the General public for personal use. 

3. Prohibit the use of fireworks on any other day, other than the stated organised celebrations. 

4. Use silent Fireworks ONLY. 

5. Erect "No Fireworks" signs on public land and public spaces to ensure the public is aware.
