Why this petition matters

There is far too much pressure on teenagers taking A-levels and GCSEs and no support for mental health. Instead of all the focus being on revision, schools and colleges need to set time to check on the mental wellbeing of their students. They need to know that it's ok not to be ok. They need to be made aware of other options if exam results are not what they had hoped for. They need to be treated as people not as a performance status for schools. If schools and colleges made more time to focus on coping strategies and made emotional wellbeing as important as physical wellbeing, students would be better equipped to deal with exams. Teenage depression would decrease, teenage suicides will decrease. The government and department of education need to act now making sure support is in place for future generations.
