Improve Child Mental Health in Schools

We all have mental health! Every action that you do affects your mental health. Mental health issues affect 80,000 children and young people. We believe the government should invest more money into improving children’s wellbeing in school. The amount of young people who have depression has doubled between the 1980s and 2000s, which shows that mental health issues are increasing rapidly. Not only does this issue need to be looked at in more detail by the government but it is costing the NHS £22.5 billion per annum.
As a form, we are doing a citizenship project and we want to help improve child mental health through education across the country and to have more services in schools to deal with already existing problems in the home. We are creating this petition to encourage the government to help deal with mental health.
Our aims are to have: workshops on mental health for students as this is a major side effect of other problems such as child abuse; staff training to spot signs of mental health; a safe haven for children to feel welcome in schools and an impartial staff member that children feel like they can talk to. If we complete all our aims we will improve mental health statistics as currently '1 in 10 children and young people aged 5-16 suffer from a diagnosable mental health disorder' and it will benefit children across the country.
We need to take action! Your support can make a difference!
