Force China to regulate farming and food markets or remove exotics from the food chain.

The Issue

The entire world is suffering the effects of COVID-19, a viral pandemic that is believed rooted in a Chinese Province and transfered from either a bat or pangolin.

These animals are part of a large number exotic species within the food chain there and something needs to change.

A review of the components of their food chain is essential and international pressure is necessary to achieve safety for all.

The Chinese Government also then need to regulate these markets to an international standard to reduce the likelihood of the next new disease and they should ban people from farming and eating them.

The damage wrought against the entire global way of life has been enormous. The fear, disruption and the enormous death toll lies at China's door.

In the thousands of years of China's existence these farming practices only had the potential to affect their own people, maybe a neighbouring province or nation.

However, the new position they have developed as a major supplier of manufactured goods and with a growing level of international interconnectivity and the associated increase in human traffic, they have a responsibility to improve standards or a boycott of Chinese goods should be enforced.

In recent years sanctions have been imposed on Iran for pressing on with nuclear enrichment, the fear being emergence of a dirty bomb that could be used by terrorists to render an inner city such as London or New York unusable and a population racked with fear.

The effects of this pandemic are strikingly similar yet nobody seems to be discussing reparations or at least acknowledging China's culpability with any hope that the next episode is preventable.

It will come to us again, without pressure to change and improve.
