A plea to alter the course of the future for those taking exams in 2021

The Issue

This is a plea to all young people, guardians, teaching staff and members of the public, to alter the course of the future for those taking A-Level, BTEC and GCSE exams in 2021, and ensure the brightest and best future for all.

The current state of education in the UK is dire; the shortcomings of the government this year have already meant that thousands of young people's future prospects have been harshly destroyed, shining no light of hope on what has already been a grim year for all. The employment, educational and  social prospects of young people are merely collateral damage in our government's attempt to maintain a strong and stable government image.

This must stop.

The aim of this petition is to bring justice to, and ensure the future prospects of young people taking exams in 2021; whilst Ofqual has proposed minimal content reduction and extended learning time for these exams, this will never be enough to account for the time that has been lost in school, the foundations that may have been built, and the stability that would have been maintained in young people's lives. The burden on students and their teachers is already enough, without cramming the content of months into the  space of mere weeks.

We must press the government to make further changes to exams in 2021, whether this may be in the further reducing the content of qualifications, or allowing realistic further time for these to be studied, in order to ensure the best and brightest futures for all students.
