I’d never done a petition before. When I recently saw a poor Herring Gull dangling dead from a roof top caught by a strip of spiked bird deterrents in my city I felt I had to do something. So I started this petition to reduce the number of birds caught on cruel bird spike deterrents like the ones I saw.
 
The good news is lots of people feel the same so the petition has already reached 1400 supporters!

Help get it to 1500 supporters and beyond. This will give an improved chance of getting local media coverage to grow it to the next stage. It will give added weight to get decision makers to put in place better measures to reduce or stop the unnecessary bird deaths.  I plan to start a discussion with decision makers and interested stakeholders aimed at finding better solutions. I’ve already started to make  these links.
 
Birds don’t deserve to die because of these cruel bird deterrent measures like bird spikes. Help stop the killing of endangered birds such as the Herring Gull and other birds who simply want a place to land and thrive.

Add your own words saying why you think birds should not get hurt or killed by bird deterrents.
 
Try identifying the different gull species and post any pictures you have with the link to the petition requesting that people consider signing and sharing it.
