You can help by sharing the petition with your friends. Share using all the different types of social media. You could try appropriate Facebook groups you may be part of too. Remember please always to ask people to sign and share the petition. Thank you!
Birds don’t deserve to die because of such cruel bird deterrent measures. Help stop the killing of endangered birds such as the Herring Gull and other birds in Wales who simply want a place to land and thrive.
Fascinating Fact
No one really knows why some Herring Gulls and Lesser Black Backed Gulls started using rooftops to nest. They have been doing it since the 1940s according to the RSPB. The 1956 Clean Air Act bizarrely may have contributed as rubbish tip operators were prevented from burning waste. A result was gulls took advantage of all the organic material “throw-away” society as a whole sent to landfill. Modern bagged street side rubbish collections have also led to temporarily scruffy pavements with food scraps and a new food source for the more wily and bright birds.
3 simple things you can do to help:-
Leave a comment if you have ideas for how we can win this petition.
Read and tweet this update using the hashtag LetTheBirdsLand or NoBirdDeterrents so more people hear about our campaign.
Take a picture of a Pigeon or Pigeons or preferably a Herring Gull and post them on social media coupled with the link to the petition asking people to sign and share it (use the same hashtags above where possible). Add a few words about what you think about the fact that some birds get hurt or killed by bird deterrents.
You may even like to have a go at identifying the different gull species that might be found on roofs and post them with the link to the petition requesting that people consider signing and sharing it. It will all help!
Help get this petition to 500 and let the birds fly (and land safely). Ensure birds such as the Herring Gull do not get more endangered and can continue to thrive on this amazing beautiful planet of ours!
Thanks for all your support and spreading the word. Let’s get this flying!
