The UK Foundation Programme have made the decision to remove EA (additional educational achievements) from its application process starting in 2023.

What this means is that any medical student who has a previous degree which would normally grant them an additional 3-5 points or has worked hard to get their names published on a research paper (1-2 points) will no longer have these merits recognised.

This seems especially unfair for those students who have made the decision to intercalate for the academic year 2020-2021 as both the time and money invested to gain additional points will not be recognised; particularly as this decision was known about as far back as February 2020 and could have clearly been communicated to current students.

We want this decision pushed back to 2025 so all current students are unaffected and that incoming students are able to make an informed decision about how to plan for this application for the UKFPO.
