UCPS Teachers United
The Issue
This petition supports the $2,000 supplement introduced by the Board of Education in May 2025. This supplement increase is well-deserved, and absolutely necessary, to ensure that UCPS continues to hire and retain the best talent for our students and schools. Teachers (like many residents) face increased financial pressures, including rising health insurance costs, inflation, and surging cost of living expenses. The proposed $2,000 supplement would help offset these financial pressures.
Per the article below, UCPS was ranked 37th in the state for teacher salaries and the Board of Education stated that a proposed $2,000 supplement “could put the district in the top 10.”

Per the UCPS Accountability Update, shared with the Board of Education on September 4th, 2025:
During 2024/2025 UCPS outperformed the state and the 12 largest districts in multiple testing and accountability areas. This includes:
- UCPS ranked number one in the state for End-of-Grade (EOG) and End-of-Course (EOC) proficiency. UCPS was at 70.7% and the state’s overall EOG and EOC proficiency rate was 55%.
- UCPS 2025 Cohort Graduation Rate of 93.2% which was the highest rate among the 12 largest districts and the state’s four-year graduation rate was 97.7%.
- During the 2024-25 school year, more schools earned a School Performance Grade of A, B or C. In UCPS, 45 of 50 schools have a performance grade higher than a D. Nine schools moved up a letter grade and UCPS does not have any F schools. Three schools moved out of low-performing status: Benton Heights Elementary, Parkwood Middle and Sun Valley Middle. Sun Valley Middle moved from a D to a B having the highest growth of all schools in the state.
Based on this data, UCPS teachers deserve to be paid fairly for their hard work and dedication to our students.
The $2,000 supplement increase benefits the entire county. Many Union County residents credit our excellent public schools, and the dedicated teachers behind them, for increased property values. Families choose to move here because our schools are among the best.
Please show your support for our educators by signing this petition and urging the Board of Education and County Commissioners to fund the $2,000 teacher supplement.
Sincerely,
UCPS Teachers United
