Compensate PGT and UG students for lecture strikes, UCL
0 have signed. Let’s get to 5,000!
In short, University staff across 61 universities in the UK are striking for 4 weeks (3 teaching weeks) to raise their voice on pension cuts. The UCL and University of London Student Unions are highly supportive of the strike, however are they not representing the voice of all students.
The strike is extremely devastating for full time oversea masters students who cannot even take part in the political and social chaos of the UK. An one year masters at UCL can cost up to £28,270 (taken from goo.gl/K1fp2r, If your course costs more, do shout it out) for overseas students. There are only 20 teaching weeks in UCL, and this strike means that the 4 final teaching weeks of our masters programmes will not be conducted nor replaced. If the strike does go forward, it benefits neither staff nor students, thus the best case scenario would be UCL come to a negotiation with UCU before any damage.
In the end of the day we care about education more than the tuition fee we payed. We would like our classes, labs, field trips, practicals to be rescheduled, or a monetary compensation of 10% of the tuition fee.
Please feel free to sign this petition no matter what kind of student you are, or which university you are studying at, or whether you are still a student or not. The more the support, the more we can make our voice be heard.
