Petition updateUCC bubbled tennis courts to serve students, families, and alumni first!Request for Transparency regarding the UCC Indoor Tennis Courts
UCC Tennis CommunityToronto, Canada
Feb 14, 2026

We are writing as engaged members of the Upper Canada College community—students, families, and alumni—who care deeply about the stewardship of school resources and the long-term interests of current students.

We respectfully request clarification regarding the two indoor tennis courts located on UCC property beside the arena. These courts are currently operated by the Badminton & Racquet Club of Toronto, and members of the UCC community have experienced ongoing difficulty securing access for student programming, alumni engagement, and family use.

To be clear: we are willing to pay the same hourly fees that the B&R Tennis Club pays to use the UCC indoor courts. We are not seeking preferential treatment. We are seeking transparency regarding:

-How tennis access is prioritized and allocated?
-Why the needs of a private club appear to take precedence over current UCC students and alumni?
-How this arrangement aligns with UCC’s mission and long-term strategic planning?

Facilities situated on school grounds are community assets. Clarity around their use is especially important at a time when UCC is actively raising significant philanthropic support as part of its 200-year campaign.

We encourage members of the UCC community to seek clarity from decision-makers and ensure they feel fully informed about the stewardship of school facilities before making significant commitments during the upcoming campaign.

This request is made in the interest of transparency, alignment, and trust. We would welcome a formal SCHOOL WIDE communication outlining the structure of the agreement and an opportunity for respectful community dialogue about equitable access moving forward.

We remain committed to UCC’s success and believe open communication strengthens the institution and the confidence of its students, families, and alumni.

Facilities that sit on school land and shape student experience should never be governed in silence.

PLEASE TAKE A MOMENT TO LET DECISION MAKERS KNOW YOU WOULD LIKE A SCHOOL WIDE COMMUNICATION AND DIALOG ON THE 2 INDOOR TENNIS COURTS.
