This is important because all people deserve the right to marry who they want, regardless of race, gender, creed, or sexual orientation. President Clinton rescinded support of the Defense of Marriage Act for a reason--he knew deep in his heart and in his mind it is wrong. Proposition 8 is wrong, too. The overwhelming majority of Americans SUPPORT same-sex marriage. Voters in California approved Proposition 8 by a ballot vote of 52% to 48%. Several prominent Republicans, including Ron Portman, have come out in support of gay marriage. For the sake of true equality, please overturn Prop 8 and support marriage equality for all.
