Help save lives by helping U.S. law enforcement be equipped with proper safety equipment
The Issue
Bayley Wanser, 22 years old, drowns as officers standby assuming the depth of water, as he cried for help, stating he could not swim and they yelled for him to come ashore. After the passenger made it to safety, they then attempted to rescue/aid Bayley to shore without success due to not having a floatation device as stated in the newspaper article. The officers had to return to safety as they too could not swim to his location...
Police are equipped with guns, tasers, and pepper spray on person and rifles, tear gas, etc in their trunks. No flotation devices? As they are generally the first to arrive and respond. Why would they not have these, as these do not take up hardly any space. This can not be the only occasion that this has happened and it should NOT happen again due to lack of proper equipment.
If they are only given weapons, they will only use weapons. If you give them rescue equipment, they will only rescue equipment. If we give them both, they will use both. Stop giving officers the wrong impression by the tools they are provided.
There has been enough death, directly/indirectly, Intentional/unintentional.
I'm not asking for a miracle. Im just asking that officers have what they need to save not just survive. To rescue not just apprehend.
If you agree with my petition to place floatation devices in officers trunks so that noone else's life is lost due to unsubstantially equipped officers to save/lives, please sign my petition.
FOR BAYLEY WANSER so noone dies due to lack of proper equipment
