The real “small” businesses need your help sending a message to Congress!

The Issue

The payroll protection program was a good program to help us keep people employed but too broad based in allowing businesses with up to 500 employees take the lions share of the allocated funds.

Much of the funding went to businesses with millions in profits and more than 500 employees - when you consider multiple locations! Too many truly small businesses failed to get funded for this program and these, often family owned, businesses  are the backbone of our country.

Larger “small” businesses have existing relationships with banks and personal bankers, high priced CPA’s  and access to more business advisors who helped them “get in line” faster- before many smaller companies could figure out the convoluted rules to see if they even were even eligible.

In the CARES act passed late March, the Sense of the Senate stated- (paraphrasing)

...”lenders should prioritize small businesses in under served and rural areas, including veterans and members of the military, socially and economically disadvantaged individuals, women and businesses open less than two years.”

We do not feel this ideology and sentiment was stressed to lenders or they simply did not care.

We ask that in any future legislation on the table, Congress allocate a percentage ONLY for businesses with 3 million or less in overall revenue to better represent the American landscape of small businesses.

This would give ALL hard working business owners and their employees a chance to survive.

We are your friends, your family, your neighbors, your community supporters, your neighborhood restaurant, your favorite bakery, the small dress shop that knows your favorite color, the contractors, the plumbers, the electricians, the professionals who create homes out of houses, the people who support every single fundraiser you ask them to- and we may be small but we are mighty.

We are YOU.

Please send a message to Congress with your signature.
