STOP DEPORTATION FOR TERESA PECOVIC!!! RELEASE HER FROM JAIL AND ADJUST HER STATUS IN THE U.S.

The Issue

STOP DEPORTATION!!! Adjust Status in the United States Trying to wrap 25 years of hardship in a few paragraphs is going to be hard but I will try. Teresa Pecovic was not born in the United States but this has been her home since the young age of 5. She has lived here for over 25 years. She was educated in this country, worked and went to school full time. Teresa worked legally under a work authorization card and paid taxes. She gave back to her community and local churches and never received any government assistance. Everything she had she earned through hard work and dedication.

Mother and Father came to this country under political asylum to escape The Balkan Wars and to provide a better life for their children. They lived in a tough neighborhood in Detroit and worked 7 days a week in restaurants to try and fulfill the American Dream for their children. Every penny they earned went towards paying immigration and lawyer fees in order to achieve their citizenship. Tens of thousands of dollars wasted on lawyers who took advantage of this family.

Years go by and tragedy strikes and Teresa’s father was killed one late night walking home from work. (case was dropped and no one was held responsible) Her immigration status became even more difficult and challenging. At this point and were no longer able to apply for political asylum stating “you children have nothing to fear”. As if losing her father and having to start all over to obtain her citizenship wasn’t enough, Teresa’s mother was ordered to leave the country. She voluntarily departed and was separated for over 3 ½ years.

Teresa was left behind to take full responsibility of her younger brother (born in the United States). She had to work even harder to provide for each other while trying to financially support her mother as well. Unfortunately it doesn’t end there, a year after her mother was deported her two older brothers were taken away from their families and deported as well. Both of her brothers were married at the time with American citizen wives and had children born in the USA.

This is all happening to a hard working, honest family that has built a life of 25 years in the United States. All filed taxes, worked legally, none had any criminal record and did not accept any government assistance. Now this petition is very important. This families hardships needs to END and it needs to END with Teresa. Enough is enough. She has been detained in Calhoun County Jail since May 27th, 2014 and is facing DEPORTATION!!!! She has been through Hell the last 4 months, being transferred and placed in several jails and taken away from her family. Immigration needs to step up and do the right humane thing and make a decision to release Teresa. She qualifies for DACA, (DREAM ACT) however immigration denied her because she is currently detained.

The government has spent thousands of dollars to keep Teresa detained and used up resources to go after someone who is not a threat to society, someone who’s a very kind, generous, caring, giving and loving person. America is her home. Please sign the petition to help Teresa stay in the United Stated and continue to live the American Dream! PLEASE, PLEASE SIGN AND SHARE THIS PETITION!!!!
