Media Story From Michigan Mentions Esther's Law

This is another media story I am in from Michigan about Esther's Law. A few years ago I worked with Senator Jim Runestad of Michigan on their camera law. It passed both the House and the Senate and went to the Governor and she pocket vetoed it.
I have talked to Senator Runestad's staff via zoom and they did want to resubmit this law and Runestad told the Governor he would work with her to get it passed, but this is not happening.
This story is a little misleading. In states that have no laws that allow you to have a camera in long term care facilities, the facility must approve you to have a camera. You must get permission from a roommate if there is one. The facility cannot say you can't use any video in a court of law if you don't follow this procedure. They have no authority over laws and a court would have to make that decision. A Georgia Supreme Court ruled that hidden cameras are legal and the video can be used in any court of law. This ruling can be used in all states. Nursing homes can set a procedure for installing a camera, but not deny you of your constitutional rights to have your day in court and due process.
This is why this petition is to important.
