My thoughts and prayers turn to the men and women who were killed on 9/11/2001. Our nation failed them on that day. But our people did not. Our people came together and rose to the challenge. My thoughts and prayers (which really do matter) are with their loved ones who were robbed of their beloved friends and family.
My thoughts and prayers turn to the American embassy staff and those brave men who disobeyed orders and put their lives on the line to save as many as they could on 9/11/2012 during another attack, this time in Benghazi. Too many died on that day, and our nation's government certainly failed them, and their loved ones. Elections have consequences...
My thoughts and prayers are also with every American and legal US resident and our allies placed further in harms way, and especially those who were abandoned in Afghanistan. My thoughts and prayers remain with our service members and the innocent civilians killed at Kabul, along with their loved ones. Once again our nation's government failed, and lives were lost and ruined. Again, elections have consequences.
Our people are still out there and we have lost the 20+ year war to those that helped start this cycle of loss and violence back in 9/11/2001. I'm ashamed of what our government has done, how it handled this withdrawal from Afghanistan, and the misery we have released back onto the world and onto our citizens, friends and allies we left behind.
My thoughts and prayers are with my brothers and sister who have and who continue to serve this nation, and their families who have carried the great burden that comes with their loyal support. Our government has failed each and every one of them.
While our government continues to fail, the American people can make things right again. The government is not America, we are. We do not serve the government, they serve us! Those of us who served or who still serve, we serve the US Constitution and each other. We can and should DEMAND our government gets our people, ALL OF OUR PEOPLE, out of Afghanistan safe and sound. We can work to regain the trust and faith of our allies. We can hold our elected, selected and appointed officials accountable. We can give our men and women in uniform leadership worthy to lead them.
So many have died, so many lives have been ruined. Our government has failed us time and time again. But the American people and our founding principals are still great. We must demand those principals are honored. Those principals formed through divine influence. We must honor and lean on God, and not men.
Say a prayer for America and the world, and lift a glass to those who paid the ultimate price. Pray for better leadership and pray for peace. Pray for God's forgiveness.
