Ban Blinding Headlights! HHS Requests Public Comment

Dear Supporters,

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services is requesting public comment on electromagnetic field (EMF) exposure. While the focus is on radiofrequency, this request also covers visible light from LEDs. This may be the most important action by HHS in the past 50 years and certainly one of the most important events related to eliminating blinding LED headlights.

There are Instructions and Questions, but not all questions need to be answered. Particular questions of interest include:

3. "We invite individuals, families, caregivers, healthcare professionals, and organizations to share experiences regarding potential adverse health effects they believe may be associated with exposure to RF/EMFs." - You can detail for the government how LED headlights impact you.

5. "What existing national and international exposure standards, guidelines, or regulatory frameworks should federal health agencies consider when evaluating the potential adverse health effects of human exposure to RF/EMF?" - You can remind HHS that the FDA is required to establish and maintain a liaison with NHTSA to test and evaluate LED headlights.

11. "Should exposure assessment or risk evaluation differ for sensitive populations such as those noted below? Please explain." - If you have a disability or are neurodivergent, explain how your sensitivity to LED headlights differs from a neurotypical.

17. "How can federal health agencies improve coordination of EMF and RF radiation research? Please comment on potential roles for federal health agencies including, but not limited to:" - Tell the HHS that 21 U.S.C. 360ii requires the FDA to establish and maintain a liaison with NHTSA to test and evaluate LED headlights for their impacts on human health.
