Justice for AFRICAN AMERICANS forced out of Washington State's cannabis industry

The Issue

In 2010 retail medical marijuana stores began to legally open their doors for business in Seattle. Many of these stores were owned by "African American" entrepreneurs. This would be the beginning of a thriving billion-dollar industry. By 2012 the State decided it wanted a piece of the action. Here is a recent video of the three of us discussing the issue https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E5FyNGdNhP4

Later on that year, initiative i-502 was passed. That bill put Washington State in control of regulating marijuana for public safety etc. Instead, under the guise of i-502, the State forced all of the "African Americans" out of business. The Washington State Liquor Cannabis Board sent unlicensed agents to these businesses, including mine, with real guns and fake badges to overthrow black & brown companies and take away the owner's generational wealth. Having my family roots in Tulsa Oklahoma this reminds me of the Greenwood massacre that took place on Black Wall Street except there were no murders in Washington other than our murdered wealth & freedoms.

To date in 2022, Washington State has taken in over $9.5 billion dollars in cannabis revenue with over $2.6 billion generated in King County (Seattle is located in King County), and not one of Seattle's recreational cannabis stores are "African American" owned anymore.

We are demanding justice & fair redress from Federal & State Governments for these entrepreneurs that were destroyed and inclusion for up-and-coming "African American" entrepreneurs that would like to enter this lucrative market.  Help us get back our "Green Wall Street" where we once had prosperous businesses that enriched our communities.
