A few days ago, a DACA recipient was murdered in Mexico, three weeks after being deported by ICE. Manuel Antonio Cano-Pacheco was 19 years-old. Manuel was brought to the US when he 3 years-old and had a family and home here. It is unjust to place immigrants coming from Latin America under the premise of criminality because of their entry into this country. Their entry is not always a wanted one as families escape violence or seek a better life than the one they had in their homelands. Families come to the US as a means of survival. It’s long past time our government fixed our broken immigration system, before more families are torn apart, and lives are upended.
