Save Kentucky's Natural Resource -Stop the Lake Cumberland Marina Expansion

The Issue

My family has been coming to the lake since the late 1960's. We started at Pinecrest campground then bought almost eight acres on Dudley Creek road about 40 years ago. I have heard many people state that if this expansion is approved they will move to another area of the lake. That's not possible for us.

This expansion will negatively impact the lake experience for many people. The 34 minute wake zone is, quite frankly absurd. Having boat slips down the central channel, with scattered floating cottages, will almost prohibit travel during winter pool and with the shallows, become quite dangerous. The alternate ramp at old Alligator I for use during winter pool will be unusable. The impact of increased pollution due to exhaust and waste from the cottages will be devastating. Many people rely on fishing that area of the lake for a portion of their food, especially during winter months. Parking is already a problem on summer weekends and will be impossible with the increased traffic.

If the Corps. already decided a new dock could not go in the old Alligator I footprint due to unsafe travel during winter pool, how is this any different?

This area of the lake has been coming back and growing since the lake was raised after the dam repair. I'm concerned the expansion will negatively impact this growth due to over crowding.

Please, support us in our effort to save one of Kentucky's best natural resources and do not approve this expansion. After four generations of my family enjoying this area, don't ruin it for future generations.

Thank you for your time and consideration
