As a parent of two sons with severe disability and recently having to sort out my sons universal credit claim I’ve discovered how soul destroying this is on those with severe life long disabilities like autism ,severe learning difficulties,non verbal who lack capacity to make decisions ,currently you make your claim ,they request to see the young person and then require sick notes then after sick notes you need to fill in a extra form to get the severely disabled element ,it’s not like the disabled person is going to wake up one morning and not be disabled ,talk ,get everything that their disability has robbed from them,it’s a soul destroying process ,it’s upsetting for everyone concerned ,this needs to stop just give them the the benefits they clearly qualify for instead of these ridiculous,cruel hoops they have to jump through
