Save Our Bluffton State of Mind

I guess you may have heard that Scratch Golf and the United Company out of Virginia have filed a 46 page lawsuit against the Beaufort County Council saying that they weren't given a fair shake over the over-the-top development proposed for the area occupied by the Hilton Head National Golf Course. I read most of the document and all I can say is the lawyers they used had to have made a ton of money charging by the hour. Reading between the lines it seems they are out to get Tabor Vaux specifically. They are trying their best to link him with the Pepper Hall Development, sometimes called the Graves Tract, even though Tabor recused himself from this issue from the get-go. Another accusation that I read in the Island Packet story this morning says that he solicited people to sign my petition on Change.Org. Seeing that I am the person that created the petition, wrote the petition and am the only person that has the password that allows me to post updates, I don't see how they can make this assumption. Here is my take on all of this. If Scratch Golf would have proposed a reasonable development plan and not some plan that clearly was meant to line their pockets with as much money as possible, they may have been able to develop that area. I saw it as outsiders that have absolutely to understanding of what has made the lowcountry special trying to use development standards that have destroyed the area they come from. It's greed pure and simple. The lawsuit is public record and you really ought to read it. I knew something was coming and here it is. Please, please continue to add signatures to the petition so these carpet baggers know where we the people stand. This is OUR home and if we don't stand up for our wonderful lifestyle then slugs like these folks will doom this incredibly unique lifestyle we cherish. There, I said it!
