Stop the cancellation of TV Ontario's SATURDAY NIGHT AT THE MOVIES

Stop the cancellation of TV Ontario's SATURDAY NIGHT AT THE MOVIES
The Issue
For more than 40 years, Saturday Night At The Movies has been an institution in the Province of Ontario. Generations of cinephiles and filmmakers have benefited from the access to classic and contemporary World cinema, originally guided by the iconic Elwy Yost, and under the capable hands of his successor, Thom Ernst.
That TVO CEO Lisa de Wilde would make such a rash decision in order to save such a small budgetary amount (Just shy of 2 million dollars), under the guise of technological advancement in the online sector is bizarre, and frankly destructive to educational television medium.
Her focus is on Children's educational programming, but what about the generations of people who continue to benefit from access to the cinematic medium. To deprive audiences of all ages access to classic cinema, that is actually not nearly as available on digital platforms as Miss de Wilde would have you believe. If she truly supports educational programming, then she needs to realize the importance of SATURDAY NIGHT AT THE MOVIES! We need to stand together to protect this important programming!
