I write this petition, bearing the burden of personal concern and duty towards my fellow Americans. On January 6th, 2021, a devastating incident took place that snatched the lives of our brave citizens, including those of our valiant men in blue. Enrique Tarrio, found guilty and convicted of seditious conspiracy for his part in the January 6th incident, was astonishingly pardoned by Donald Trump. This act of clemency has repercussions far beyond this sole case; it impacts the majority of the American population.

Citizens are intended to trust that their leaders will act in the best interest of justice and public safety. This pardon, however, has engendered a sense of unease and betrayal amongst us. It is explicitly proven that Enrique Tarrio played an integral part in those tragic events. His conviction was delivered by our justice system, and overturning it through a presidential pardon seems to negate the very principles our country stands on.

As per a report by The Guardian, out of all presidential pardons granted in the last century, less than 2% were given in cases of public safety threats, such as treason (The Guardian, 2021). This statistic is alarmingly exceeded with this one pardon.

We urge our legislators and law enforcement agencies to carry out an unbiased evaluation of the situation. Stand up for justice and public trust by trying Donald Trump for treason on grounds of pardoning Enrique Tarrio. Our country ought to be returned to its citizens and away from self-serving politicians, regardless of their party. Sign this petition to demand accountability and restore faith in our justice system.

Had this been any other President there would have been a huge uproar. As a disabled American who is trying to get a degree at 43, so I don’t have to depend on anyone this will severely affect not just me and my special needs son but also millions of Americans who struggle to pay their bills and afford to put food on the table. This is for all the people whose life is on the line because they are part of the LGBTQ community, or black, or Asian, or a woman, or a Mexican. Bring back the real American dream!
