In the 1970’s and 80’s the GDR systematically doped their athletes. This had a profound effect on women athletes. It was particularly painful for the GDR swimmers who carried the affects that included their own devastating health issues and in many cases genetic defects in their children. It also left a group of women athletes who were deprived of their rightful Olympic/ World Record recognition. The facts of this doping program are undisputed over the last 30 years and have resulted in GDR officials and coaches being sued and prosecuted successfully. As Swimmers we are making an Appeal to the IOC and the new Fina Integrity Board to review and recommend a process that would allow the Truth, Reconciliation and Recognition for all.
