TrevorSpace was built as a safe space for young queer people, but it is turning into a site for trolls, creeps, and pervs due to poor moderation. Over the past few months, I have seen countless instances of people violating TrevorSpace guidelines without any repercussions from the moderation team. People have lied about their age, asked explicit/sexual questions, and harassed other users. There are countless examples I could mention, some of which I will list here:

• A minor on TrevorSpace was privately messaged by their now ex who asked them about s*x and s*x toys. This persons ex is now attempting to make them appear as the bad guy in the situation for breaking up with them after feeling pressured.
• On a topic meant to be a safe space for body insecurities, a user on TrevorSpace posted a gore filled video of animal abuse. The person who started the topic reported the video, but moderation did not take action and the user took down their own video shortly after.
• On a different post about body positivity, a user in the 18-25 age range joined the conversation with a group of minors and acted normal at first before talking about loving to touch themselves and saying they were naked. They even asked if “anyone wanted to join them”.
• A chat known as the ND (neurodivergent) chat has been a safe space for many users on this website, but sadly even they have been affected by the poor moderation. A user posted gore related content and photos of bloody self harm cuts in the chat.
• In a post made 1 hour before the time that I am writing this, a user who was spamming a link to an unknown website was called out for trolling/hacking. The user eventually admitted to being a troll and agreed to leave while stating in all caps, “I will be leaving, I don’t want to interfere with this anymore it’s just sad. I must warn you all though that the next troll will not be as “nice” as I’m being, you are a forum of vulnerable kids that a certain group I know would love to prey on. Please be safe, and tell the mod team to get it together.”, After realizing how poor the moderation is on TrevorSpace.
• A user in the Discodeb (Discourse and Debate) chat sexually harassed and threatened the people in the chat for 2-4 hours. They were never banned by mods, they just ended up getting bored and leaving.

And many, many more. This needs to stop, now.

By signing this petition, you are joining a group effort to get better moderation for TrevorSpace. This can be achieved through hiring more mods, starting volunteer moderator programs, and educating the current mods on the importance of focusing on worse infractions (like trolls, pervs, and creeps) over minor infractions and self defense (like a person having multiple accounts or defending themselves from a user that is breaking the rules).
