Uber, a popular rideshare service, is currently not treated the same as taxis when it comes to picking up and dropping off passengers. This discrepancy creates confusion and inconvenience for both drivers and passengers alike. According to a report by the National Bureau of Economic Research, ridesharing services like Uber have seen an unprecedented rise in usage over the past decade (NBER, 2020). Despite this growth, regulations have not kept pace with these changes in consumer behavior. We believe that all transportation services should be subject to the same rules for fairness and consistency's sake. By treating Uber rideshares equally to taxis for passenger pick-up and drop-off, we can ensure a smoother transportation experience for all parties involved.
