Good morning, I know it's been a while since I last updated you on what's been happening with our "Stop Cycle Superhighway 11 Campaign" so here's the latest. - TfL have responded to our legal letter ("Letter before Action" asking them not to approve any decision to move forward with the planned CS11 route and also to carry out a new, fairer, more informative consultation). - TfL believe that our letter was "premature" as they have not yet fully reviewed and analysed all of the responses to the CS11 consultation. - It is expected that the full consultation report will be published on TfL's website sometime this summer so we will be the first to let you know and will provide the link for you to view it directly. - As you may be aware we have have two meetings at Parliament about this CS11 fiasco - one chaired by Tulip Siddiq MP (Hampstead & Kilburn MP) and one chaired by Karen Buck MP (Westminster North MP). - Both meetings were useful as we, along with several representatives of local residents' associations were able to put our concerns across to TfL and "The Dark Lord" (Andrew Gilligan - who hopefully will be out of a job after May 5th) and we are on course to setup a joint "Working Group" so that we can formally add our input and concerns into TfL's management. -Last Tuesday there was a live "Mayoral Debate" co-hosted by LBC & ITV London News where candidate Sadiq Khan clearly stated "We need to learn from the mistakes of the 1st generation of Cycle Superhighways, they don't always need to have permanent concrete separation and the cycle lanes don't necessarily need to be so wide" . - We secured a statement from Conservative Mayoral Candidate Zac Goldsmith saying : "I hear what local residents are saying and I am clear that changes of this scale need clear community consent. I do not consider Cycle Superhighway 11 a 'fait accompli' and if elected I will ask TfL to clearly demonstrate that they have taken a holistic look at the combined impact of not just this scheme but also the construction work associated with HS2 and other developments on pollution, local buses and the school run. I will be a Mayor who invests in making cycling easier and safer. Under Boris, cycling has doubled, and it will need to double again on my watch. The question is not if we accommodate cycling and make it safer, the question is how. I expect the Cycle Superhighways to do a great job, but policy needs to be based on evidence, and if residents' fears about congestion are borne out, then we will have to look again. We need a cycling programme that works for everyone." - We are now in the process of trying to arrange a meeting with Sadiq Khan to put our concerns directly to him and will ask him to either scrap CS11 or ensure it is radically altered so that the gates at Regent's Park are kept OPEN and the design at Swiss Cottage is less "anti-car". - We have had excellent press coverage in the Financial Times, Ham & High, Wood & Vale, Camden New Journal and Evening Standard (mostly thanks to the tireless work of Jessica Learmond-Criqui from "I love Hampstead") - We are continuing to launch official complaints to TfL, City Hall, The Electoral Commission, Civil Service Commission, Independent Press Standards Organisation and other official bodies to demand action be taken against Andrew Gilligan and TfL for the disgraceful and unprofessional way they have conducted themselves throughout the course of this public consultation. - We are continuing to pressure the key "Decision Makers" in the CS11 process (TfL, Westminster City Council, Camden Council and The Royal Parks) to get them to listen and act on our concerns about congestion and pollution and we have suggested several viable alternative options which avoid the need to close 4 of the 8 gates at Regent's Park. Thank you all for doing your bit to help stop CS11 going ahead, whether you've signed our petition, told your friends and family about it, come to a public meeting to have your views heard, written in to a newspaper or helped in any other way - WE REALLY APPRECIATE YOUR HELP! I look forward to pressing the "Victory Button" but until then keep up the outstanding work and together I know we can succeed. Have a great weekend, Daniel "Stop CS11" petition founder & Campaign Director
