Hello
Well, the glorious (!) TFL letter has just floated through my letter box. I will probably be the first person ever to put such a letter in a FRAME.
I was getting lots of messages earlier today saying that the Letter Drop had begun, so it was clearly being welcomed by many others. By the end of tomorrow, 17,000 households will have received a letter and will be able to see details about the new crossing. This is super news - although the typeface on the image page is so tiny that it is illegible. Doh.
In other good news, the Petition is about to burst through the 26,000 signatures mark. My thanks to ALL of you for the on-going support.
I am keeping the petition open to sign for the next couple of months because everyone's backing and interest will be needed as discussions continue with TFL and RBKC regarding the other arms of the Cheyne Walk crossroads. This stage will involve widespread public consultation, which will inevitably bring other factors into the debate and, quite possibly, politically-motivated agendas.
Also - earlier today I made a donation to the For Jack Ryan page on Virgin Money Giving that has been set up by Jack's friends to raise funds for the London Ambulance Service and the Aston Villa Foundation. Nearly £4,000 has already been donated and I am delighted to support these causes.
This venture has been named 'Move for Jack' because he loved exercising so much. The aim is to get as many people as possible out exercising on Saturday 20th March, which would have been Jack's 30th birthday. The event also continues on 21st.
Scores of Jack's friends all over the world will be running or cycling in his memory - some are doing as much as 30kms. Those in London will finish their run in Battersea Park, where his closest mates and loved ones are planting a special tree in his memory.
I intend to do a longer jog than normal on that Saturday. Not sure I will make it to 30kms - creak - but I will do my best. I hope many of you can also venture out and get moving for Jack. (RM: 9/3/21)
