Petition updateMAKE BATTERSEA BRIDGE SAFE TO CROSSTFL analyses Battersea Bridge SOUTH side safety

Hello

During talks with TFL about the Battersea Bridge north side crossing, I threw in a improvement solution to the south side that would make things way much safer for pedestrians.

Keen readers to this parish may recall my request was to turn the existing island crossing into a Belisha. This would match the south side of Albert Bridge. TFL officers helpfully relayed this thought to the relevant people at Wandsworth Council.

Earlier today, TFL informed me that they now have "a team, budget and sponsor assigned looking at the feasibility of this". The team actually met for the first time today. They will report back with costings and survey reports by May. So, this is not going to happen any time soon, but I thought I'd let you know that it is in the mix.

In other news - Anthea Turner, the TV presenter and an early supporter of the campaign, today talked about TFL's decision to make the north side safe.  She was kind enough to "extend a huge thanks to one local individual".  Thank you, Anthea. Please invite me to your next spa party. (Non-tabloid readers can rejoice in not being able to get that crass joke). (RM/23/2/20)

Ps: I am unsure whether to close the petition page and "Declare Victory", as is the expected way on Change.

The original ambition has been achieved. However, there is still much to be done in terms of seeing the north side crossing installed, as well as ensuring TFL follow through with installing two other crossings (West on Cheyne Walk & North on Beaufort Street), which are equally dangerous.

If there are any strong views out there regarding this - either Exit or Stay - do leave a comment. I don't want to be banging on endlessly about the safety of Battersea Bridge, yet I also don't want to leave in what might be regarded as mid-campaign...
