Transparency and Protection of Student Interests in Fee related Decisions of ILS Law Clg.
The Issue
The fee dispute at ILS Law College remains unsettled, as no official communication from the college regarding the revision of fees has been made available to students.
As mandated by Savitribai Phule Pune University under University Order No. PGS/676 dated 28.02.2020 and Communication No. शे. प्रवेश 2151 dated 30.04.2026, the Other Activity Fees applicable to ILS Law College, Pune, have been determined by the University. However, the implementation, revision, and compliance with the said mandate do not appear to have been incorporated by the college. If any such action has been taken, the same has neither been communicated to the students nor displayed by the college.
Further, Circular No. 89 of 2026 dated 15.05.2026 mandates that the fee structure of the respective institutions/universities be displayed publicly so the concerned institutions are required to comply with the prescribed transparency measures and submit the necessary affidavit to the affiliated university confirming such compliance.
In the case of ILS Law College, these requirements do not appear to have been complied with, and no communication of any kind has been provided to students regarding the fee structure for the academic year 2026–27.
Further, if ILS Law College has challenged, or proposes to challenge, the fee structure prescribed pursuant to University Order No. PGS/676 dated 28.02.2020 and Communication No. शे. प्रवेश 2151 dated 30.04.2026 before the Savitribai Phule Pune University's Fee Fixation Committee, the Department of Higher and Technical Education, Government of Maharashtra, or any other competent authority, the interests of the students of ILS Law College must be duly considered before any order is passed that may adversely affect them or impose an additional financial burden upon them.
Key Demands
1) ILS Law College should immediately publish and communicate the approved fee structure for the academic year 2026–27 and ensure full compliance with University Order No. PGS/676 dated 28.02.2020, Communication No. शे. प्रवेश 2151 dated 30.04.2026, and Circular No. 89 of 2026 dated 15.05.2026.
2) In the event of any challenge to, or reconsideration of, the fee structure prescribed pursuant to University Order No. PGS/676 dated 28.02.2020 and Communication No. शे. प्रवेश 2151 dated 30.04.2026 before any competent authority, the interests of students must be duly considered before passing any order that may increase fees or impose any additional financial burden upon them.
3) Students of ILS Law College must be afforded an opportunity to be heard, and their representations must be considered in accordance with the principles of natural justice, before any final order affecting the fee structure is passed.
By signing this petition, you join a collective effort to safeguard student interests and ensure the transparent, accountable, and lawful implementation of the fee structure applicable to ILS Law College.
