I have a deep passion for hornbills, not only because the name rhymes with our beloved Foothill but also due to their dwindling numbers. There are only three hornbills left in the world, making them one of the most endangered species on our planet. The falcon, while a noble bird, does not carry this same significance or connection to our school.

Changing Foothill High School's mascot from the Falcon to the Hornbill would be an epic move that could raise awareness about this critically endangered species and inspire students and community members alike. In Pleasanton, CA where we reside, it is important for us to take stands on issues that matter.

Hornbills are unique birds known for their large bills and vibrant colors - characteristics that can symbolize uniqueness and diversity within our school community. On top of this symbolism, adopting such an endangered mascot could lead us into initiatives aimed at conservation efforts.
