Transform derelict land into Mayberry Green – a wildflower park for local families

The Issue

Right now, next to Mayberry Place in Halesowen, there’s a patch of land that's been forgotten.

Overgrown, littered, and unloved, it’s become an eyesore for local residents- and sadly, the daily view for my one-year-old daughter from her bedroom window.

What should be a space for nature and neighbours has instead been left to decay.

The Vision (Solution):
We want to change that.
Our dream is to transform this derelict land into Mayberry Green - a small community green space for everyone to enjoy.

Imagine bees buzzing through bright flowers, benches for neighbours to meet, safe paths for children to explore, and a space that brings colour and life back into the heart of Halesowen.

We believe Mayberry Green can be:

A wildflower garden to support pollinators and wildlife
A family-friendly space for play, rest, and connection
A symbol of what communities can achieve together

Where We Are Now (Current Stage):
We are currently identifying the formal owners and working with local council services.

We want to show there is strong community support for this transformation.
Your signature will help demonstrate that this isn't just one family's dream—it's something the whole community believes in.

Right now, Halesowen has limited accessible, natural community spaces in the town centre and surrounding residential areas.

While beautiful places like Leasowes Park and Huntingtree Park exist, they are larger parks located further from central residential zones.

For families, elderly residents, and those without easy transport, there are few small, local, walkable green spaces, especially around the Rumbow/Mayberry Place area.

How You Can Help (Action):
Please sign this petition to show your support for turning this derelict patch into Mayberry Green!

With your help, we can show landowners, councils, and future funders that this little piece of forgotten land deserves to bloom — for the community, for the environment, and for generations to come.

Add your name. Help Mayberry Green grow.
