Trafford Council say they have 'Responded to the aspirations of residents to retain the centre for community use'. That statement is an absolute disgrace and an insult to the residents because if they really had responded then the leisure centre in its present form would not be sacrificed for a basketball team. The latest party political broadcast by the Conservative party in the messenger seems to confirm what most people have suspected for some time, which is that Trafford Council appear to be the main sponsor for the newspaper otherwise why would any newspaper want to publish old news, they are obviously worried that they are going to lose out to the Labour party in the elections in May because they must be aware how unpopular they have become and how much opposition there is to them right across the borough, I have never known so many campaigns being set up opposing their plans so I think we can expect an article in the newspaper most weeks now leading up to them. Instead of trying to brainwash everybody into thinking what a wonderful job they are doing for the community all they are doing is reminding everybody of why we want the Conservative party out of the town hall and then when Andrew Western becomes the new leader of the council lets hope that he and his party can find a way to reverse the decision to close the centre and at the same time scrap the proposals to build on the site, then it would make more sense to extend the car park so that when events are held there would be no need for visitors to block peoples access outside the centre.
