Traffic Calming Measures for Gladstone Ave before it's too late.

The Issue

How many injured children will it take for the City of Windsor to initiate Traffic Calming Measures for Gladstone Ave?

Speeding in residential streets is a major issue for all Windsorites. This is a petition for the City of Windsor to initiate Traffic Calming Measures (All-Way Stop) on Gladstone Ave from Erie St to Ottawa Street.

Here is one of the most recent shocking crashes captured from my doorbell camera in the Windsor Star:
TW: Child Crying, Loud Crash.

“In my 15 years of living at Gladstone and Richmond I've witnessed over 30+ car crashes. I've helped pull an elderly man out of his flipped minivan, I've rushed to help families after getting t-boned and nearly crashing into a house. Enough is enough!” - Drew Hyttenrauch

Drivers frequently speed in excess of 80km/h from Erie all the way to Ottawa Street on a daily basis. Adding a 3-way (all-way) stop will reduce the chances of on-going collisions and save lives. We are suggesting a 3-way stop installed to reduce speeds as every other measure has been unsuccessful.

On August 28th 2022 at 9:04pm a car traveling southbound on Gladstone Ave with a child passenger inside was t-boned by another vehicle speeding down Richmond. It hit the car with such force the vehicle spun, flipped on it's side and miraculously righted itself on all four tires. The driver that hit the car fled the scene. The child and father have minor bruises and on-going backpain.

Students from Walkerville Collegiate institute cross this street daily to wait at the bus stop on Gladstone and without a 3-way stop they often cross without looking and there have been several close calls. A 3-way stop would prevent this.

In just this year alone there have been 4 car crashes and dozens of near misses at Gladstone and Richmond.

We’re pleading to have the City of Windsor and Councilors take action in fast-tracking the installation of a 3-way stop to reduce speed on Gladstone Ave.

Thanks for your time and support.
