Gold medal winning Special Olympians should have a gold post box in their home town.

Gold medal winning Special Olympians should have a gold post box in their home town.
The Issue
This year in LA Team GB won a record number of medals at the Special Olympic World Games. They are Olympic Champions - some are multiple gold medal winning athletes and yet they do not receive the same recognition locally, regionally or nationally as their Olympic/Paralympic counter parts.
After London 2012 it was decided to paint one post box in each gold medallist's home town gold - a really lovely gesture that was repeated for Paralympians but not Special Olympians. We would like to see this change and achievement at Olympic level be recognised equally for all Disabled athletes.
The Minister for Sport and The Minister for Disabled People could make this change happen and help the country move towards real inclusion and equality of opportunity for all.
Breaking Barriers is a Charity which challenges barriers to inclusion and believes in celebrating achievements and cheering for difference regardless of ability or impairment.
