Toyota—Reinstate Your Commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

Toyota—Reinstate Your Commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
The Issue
Toyota has long been a brand associated with innovation, reliability, and social responsibility. Many of us who drive Toyotas do so not just because of the quality of the vehicles but because of the company’s past commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) and its support for the LGBTQ+ community.
However, recent reports have shown that Toyota has quietly abandoned its DEI initiatives and ceased donations to LGBTQ+ organizations—an alarming shift that goes against the values of many of its loyal customers. Toyota has built a reputation as a forward-thinking company, and we, as consumers, are deeply disappointed to see it step away from its commitments to inclusivity and social progress.
The majority of Toyota drivers lean progressive, valuing companies that support equal rights and workplace diversity. Many of us have chosen Toyota over competitors precisely because of its past dedication to these principles. By rolling back its DEI efforts and LGBTQ+ support, Toyota risks alienating the very consumers who have stood by the brand for years.
We urge Toyota to:
1. Publicly reaffirm its commitment to DEI and reinstate internal initiatives that promote workplace diversity and equity.
2. Reinstate donations and partnerships with LGBTQ+ organizations that support equality, inclusion, and the well-being of LGBTQ+ individuals.
3. Engage with customers and employees to rebuild trust and ensure Toyota remains a company that values all people, regardless of race, gender, or sexual orientation.
Toyota has a choice: stand with the values that made it a beloved brand or risk losing the support of consumers who expect more from the companies they invest in. We are calling on Toyota to do the right thing and restore its commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
If you believe in holding corporations accountable for their commitments to social progress, sign this petition and let Toyota know that backing away from DEI and LGBTQ+ support is not the road we want to travel.
