We are writing this petition out of dissatisfaction and with an urgency for the safety of our communities Nation Wide.  WE ARE DEMANDING safer rail transport of hazardous materials through the very towns and localities where we live and grow our families Nation Wide. The looming threat of toxic train cars, with just a single hole making them susceptible to leaks, or one wheel bearing failing is a danger we can no longer overlook. Moreover, the aftermath of such accidents and the scrambling efforts to clean up are unacceptable as they expose our families, our homes, our children to toxic chemicals and more. EXAMPLE... Palestine Ohio Derailment & ongoing cleanup burning toxins into the atmosphere.
According to the U.S. Department of Transportation's Bureau of Transportation Statistics, from 2005 to 2019, there were over 11,000 derailments in the United States alone. Of these, a significant portion were in populated areas, exposing the residents to MULTIPLE hazards (Bureau of Transportation Statistics, U.S. Department of Transportation).

This PETITION is loud and clear. The risk taken by shipping companies and overseen by the railway authorities is not acceptable. We, as a community and Nation, remind those in power our safety is not negotiable. We deserve swift and permanent action oriented toward risk elimination. High-grade containers resistant to leakages, a stringent overview of the route planning and risk assessment should be achieved. The community calls out with one voice to defend our right to live without the constant fear of potential disasters.
