Hello everyone.  Thanks for supporting and sharing this petition.  Here is the latest update from Ryan Mouradian, the superintendent of the DPW.  This is in response to my email to him regarding the car accident on Aug. 2, 2022 at Dana Hill and Rt 140.
Ryan writes:  I would first like to clarify some facts from the accident today (8-2-22); it is my understanding that a vehicle traveling through the green light on Dana Hill was hit by a vehicle that ran the red light on Redemption Rock Trail (rt140), not as a result of too short of light timing on the Dana Hill/Legg Road lights.  I would also like to update you on our continued investigation into this traffic light.  As I believe I stated in a previous e-mail, we have retained a traffic light consulting company to verify proper operation of the traffic signals inclusive of the underground infrastructure that detects vehicles sitting or approaching the intersection.  They verified that all the underground infrastructure is working properly, but found that the controller that runs the timing has a dead battery backup, thus changing the date and time within the controller, as well as resetting it to one program, when instead it is supposed to be running two programs, one for the morning hours (6 a.m.- 10 a.m.) and one for the rest of the day, (10 a.m. - 6 a.m.).  Our contractor will be removing the control box, putting in a temporary controller, and repairing our controller as well as resetting the proper programs in the system.  I am hopeful this may alleviate some of your concerns, particularly during the morning hours.

Thank you,

Ryan Mouradian, P.E. Superintendent
