Currently the speed limit entering Laona from the north is 55 mph with a drastic decrease to 25 mph upon entering town. This is not ideal or safe because it does not give vehicles enough time to slow their rate of speed. This is especially true for semi trucks and larger vehicles. Currently vehicles are entering town at over double the speed limit. This is especially important as this part of town is 100 percent residential. We would like the town to petition the DOT in doing a speed limit survey which would determine if it is feasible to lower speed limits. We would like to see the speed limit stepped down by old 8 to force vehicles to slow their rate of speed much earlier. For example 35mph or 45mph then entering town to 25mph. An example of this can be seen on the south entrance of US 32 into Laona. Note that this area has half of the homes or traffic. It is a matter of time before a tragic accident will occur or even death. Please help us to make our town safer for our children and families. Thank You
