Abolish VAT on energy bills & abolish excise duty on petrol and diesel!
The Issue
- We, the British public, call on the Chancellor, The Rt Hon Nadhim Zahawi MP, to abolish VAT on our energy bills and to an iabolish eexcise on petrol and diesel!
- With petrol and diesel prices at nearly £2 a litre, along with the cost of living crisis, it is now time for the government to abolish VAT and excise duty on petrol, diesel and gas and electricity!
- BP paid no tax on their profits, despite making £18,000 profits every minute! On top of that, Boris Johnson's government gave BP £34 million subsidy of taxpayers money!
- And yet, we're expected to pay tax on our petrol and diesel, in the form of excise duty and VAT!
- Yet again, it's one rule for the rich elites and corporations, and a different rule for us!
Meanwhile the cost of living crisis has squeezed households to breaking point!
We were told that VAT on fuel was due to an European Union directive.
We were promised that by leaving the European Union that one of the benefits would be the removal of VAT from our energy bills!
Now that we have left the European Union, it is time for Boris Johnson's government to abolish VAT on fuel and energy bills, and to abolish exercise duty on petrol and diesel!
