Petition updateKeep Penarth Pier Pavilion Cinema openPAVILION CINEMA - NO LONGER CLIENTS OF THE INDEPENDENT CINEMA OFFICE (ICO)

I have just been on the Independent Cinema Office (ICO) website. PACL were clients of the ICO providing programming and film distribution for the Pavilion Cinema - which is probably why it was the one activity there that was run properly (apart from marketing it!) It has been pretty much confirmed to me from a number of reliable sources that the reason why our cinema suddenly closed was because the ICO pulled the plug at end of Feb and would not provide the films for a March programme due to PACL not paying its bills to them ( a tale heard so often in Penarth about PACL) When I contacted ICO early March they confirmed that they were in talks with PACL and VoG Council which presumably meant clearing the debt in order to restart the cinema The ICO website no loner lists the Pavilion as a client of ICO which is a real worry for the future of the cinema - it was not even mentioned in the update from PACL about the recent grant award. My suspicion is that we have now lost our cinema and that it will not be reopening It is simply not good enough for locally elected officials such as Lis Burnett to claim that the problems at the Pavilion are nothing to do with the Council. Remember this when you vote on may the 4th!
