Petition updateKeep Penarth Pier Pavilion Cinema openONE WEEK ON FROM THE PUBLIC MEETINGS - SILENCE?

More than a week has passed since the two extremely well attended public meetings about the Pavilion cinema closure at which the strength of feeling and passion certainly came through.
However it is notable that there has been no further statement by PACL and nobody involved in the apparent on going discussions with PACL seems willing to engage with residents and users of the Pavilion. It is difficult to know what else to do at present ( apart from remembering this when voting in the upcoming local elections!!).
Ever the optimist I do hope that with 1663 of us signing this petition and offering constructive comments that our views will count and that engagement of some sort will start .
To date I have met with Cllr Lis Burnett and spoken to Stephen Doughty MP on the phone. I have also had e mail responses from Cllr Clive Williams and Cllr Maureen Kelly-Owen as well as Richard Bellamy at the Heritage Lottery Fund and Sarah Rutterford at the Independent Cinema Office. These I have shared via the updates pages.
I have emailed the above named today with the following update:-
Dear Stephen, Lis, Richard, Maureen,Clive, Sarah & Richard
I am contacting you as the people with whom I previously had e mail responses from or have met with or had telephone conversations with.
Further to our previous discussion/correspondence on this matter I , along with many others, are naturally very concerned that despite two very well attended public meetings over a week ago things have gone very quiet and a growing wall of silence seems to be surrounding PACL.
Despite this there's mounting criticism and concern in Penarth concerning PACL's record on management of our Pavilion with frequent reports of individuals and organisations left unpaid for services etc and opportunities for commercial income generation turned away. It is truly unbelievable and quite shocking
I am reliably informed that as suspected the reason for our cinema's sudden closure is due to unpaid bills to the ICO for film distribution. Again shocking!
I now understand that the Vale of Glamorgan Council and Heritage Lottery Fund are in discussions with PACL over a bail out!
I agree that the Pavilion needs to be bailed out after the appalling mess left by PACL but the management needs to go including trustees and a whole new team brought in. Maybe this is in hand but as previously mentioned it is surely in nobody's interest that there is a complete wall of silence on such an important issue to our town and that the very people whose support was needed to get the project off the ground ( ie local residents) are now seemingly completely frozen out.
We have lost our wonderful cinema entirely due to mismanagement and seemingly can have neither a voice nor a role in getting it back open.
I only started the petition as a local resident who didn't want to lose this facility. Now it seems the 1600+ who have signed it are looking to me to make sure this issue is kept alive. I certainly intend to not give up the fight as I believe a vibrant commercially viable Pavilion is entirely attainable with the right organisation and people at the helm
I realise that I am but a mere local resident of Penarth with an interest in this so there is absolutely no expectation to have any confidential or commercially sensitive information on this matter. However it would be good if somebody in a position of 'authority' on this matter would at least reassure us ( and involve us) in the way forward?
Yours Sincerely
Andrew Jones
